Televisions and
Electronics

The digital
television transition is now completed. If you choose to dispose your
old television rather than getting a converter box, please do it
responsibly. Televisions contain recyclable components as well as lead
and other hazardous materials that should not go to the landfill.
Your TV may still be useful to someone who has cable or a converter
box. If your old television is still in good working order, consider
donating it to a local charitable organization.
Please see the
SWACO e-recycling page
or click on
the TV above for a list of places to take unusable televisions or other
electronic appliances for recycling.
GREAT NEWS:
You can now recycle
styrofoam in Columbus:
Phoenix Recycling on
Hamilton Road accepts styrofoam from the public. Contact them to find
out more:
They accept all Polystyrene
(Styrofoam), except used food containers.
Returning grass clippings to the yard
keeps your grass healthy and saves space in the landfill. In fact, grass
clippings contain valuable nutrients that can generate up to 25 percent
of your lawn's total fertilizer needs. Grass clippings do not contribute
to thatch since grass clippings are 75 percent to 85 percent water and decompose
readily.
