We are proud of Columbus residents that make up our core litter cleanup volunteers. Throughout the year, thousands of Columbus residents make themselves available on evenings and weekends to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.  Keep Columbus Beautiful will provide your group with litter grabbers, safety vests, gloves, bags and other helpful tools to help keep the trash in your community where it belongs: in the trash can. For a complete listing of the tools and supplies available for your use, see the section below.  KCB will also coordinate with the City of Columbus, Refuse Collection Division to have the collected trash picked up once the cleanup is completed. Adopt-An Area

Adopt-An-Area in Columbus. Volunteer groups can make a lasting impression by adopting an area needing attention. Groups can have their name on signs posted in the adopted area to recognize their regular efforts in keeping their neighborhood clean.

Program Basics

• Keep Columbus Beautiful (KCB) promotes the Adopt-An-Area program for the City of Columbus.

• Any city alley, street, median, interchange or public sector property may be adopted.

• Groups, businesses, churches, schools, families or individuals may adopt an area.

• Groups adopting an area need to clean the area at least three times each year.

• KCB supplies groups with trash bags, gloves, and tools (on loan) to assist efforts at no cost.

• After the third cleanup, the city will install an Adopt-An-Area sign acknowledging the group adopting the area.

• Adopting an area promotes a cleaner, more livable neighborhood and gives YOU an active role!

• You give your group positive attention for the valuable service you perform!

• You help the City of Columbus by volunteering to clean up!  In one year, more than 8,500 volunteers donated more than 25,000 hours of their time for cleanups and beautification projects. That's more than $450,000 of labor!
